The New York office has an immediate need for a Senior Trusts & Estates Paralegal. The Senior Paralegal will support the members of the firm’s New York Trusts & Estates group with a focus on estate administration and trust administration. The ideal candidate will have a high level of motivation, flexibility, initiative, and ability to follow through on numerous ongoing projects. The Senior Paralegal will be required to be in the office 2-3 days per week and may work remotely other days. Flexibility with respect to the days in the office is required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Handle all aspects of estate administrations, including preparation and filing of probate and administration proceedings, collection and valuation of assets, and payment of bequests Assist with preparation of Wills, Trusts, health care directives, powers of attorney and other estate planning documents Prepare and file federal and state estate tax returns and related filings Formation of LLCs and applying for and securing EINs. Preparation of Receipt and Release Agreements for payment of bequests and for informal settlement of estate and trust accountings Review and assist with preparation of fiduciary accountings for estates and trusts Maintain departmental calendars for estate administration filing deadlines and planning matters Please note this job description does not cover or contain all activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required Minimum 5 + years of Trusts & Estates paralegal experience Strong communication skills with the ability to interact well with people at all levels of the organization including clients and client advisors Demonstrate a positive attitude, strong judgment, initiative, and integrity Dependable, highly motivated, and a team player Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously Detail oriented, with above average spelling, language, and grammar skills Flexibility to operate independently and in a team atmosphere with a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism Proficient with Microsoft Office Experience with One Source (FPS) estate tax preparation software, New York Hot Docs forms and Surrogate Court filings Ability to work overtime on short notice when required Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The full time base annual salary range for this position in the New York City market is expected to start at $140,000. This range represents the firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting for a position in New York City.  Salaries in other markets will vary depending on market data. Bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
