Job Description

Mott MacDonald is looking for professionals to join our ever-expanding transportation team here in the New York City Metro Area. We are currently looking for an Inspector with experience in the New York City Metro Area within the transportation (NYCT, MNR, LIRR) and infrastructure industry. The successful candidate is required to understand the construction industry standards and practices in the New York City Metro Area and experience working on relevant public agency projects.

Description of Duties

Candidate will report to the Resident Engineer or Senior Inspector to monitor the daily construction activities, track and report quantities, take and archive progress photos and videos, and prepare daily reports. Monitor safety and quality requirements of the construction.

Candidate will be responsible for the inspection and oversight of the contractor’s construction work. Coordinate efforts with the Senior Inspector/Resident Engineer and Office Staff.

The ability to coordinate communication between client and contractor.

Must be willing to work weekends and/or weeknights as necessary.

Good verbal and written communication.

Candidate Specification

The successful candidate must have:
a proven and verifiable track record performing inspections in one or more of the following disciplines: civil, structural, signals, traction power, track, communications, and associated construction activities
5+ year’s construction inspection experience
Proficiency with computers and standard word processing and spreadsheet software (ASite, MSExcel, MSWord)
a client service focus, an emphasis on safety culture, a team player attitude, and communication skills for working well with multiple stakeholdersSalary Range: $64,000 – $70,000
