Job Description
Join a team that transforms raw datasets into valuable, revenue-generating data products consumed by the world’s leading hedge funds and corporations to power investment and business decisions. As a Data Scientist at FirstParty, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining data products using the latest cloud technologies and AI innovations. You will leverage product design, statistics, machine learning modeling, and Generative AI to transform raw data into valuable data products. And you will work in close collaboration with product owners to understand strategic product requirements that turn designs into production level data pipelines in partnership with FirstParty engineers.

Responsibilities
• Explore new datasets and identify use cases that answer key investment and business questions
• Process, normalize, and denoise datasets to maximize ease-of-use and signal potential
• Develop statistical models that predict corporate KPIs across various sectors
• Perform ad hoc analyses in response to client requests
• Build analytical tools to supplement our shared research framework
• Support the sales process by developing alternative data cases studies for sales pitches and press releases
• Provide sales support for top hedge funds and financial institutions trialing client data products
Requirements
• B.S., M.S. in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, data science, computer science, engineering or other quantitative discipline
• 5-10 years of relevant work experience, ideally in financial markets and/or alternative data
• Programming in Python (or comparable language) and working knowledge of SQL
• Experience working with and analyzing large datasets using cloud technologies, AWS experience preferred
• Experience with data cleaning, transformation, and modeling for production quality data products
• Hands-on knowledge working with machine learning and artificial intelligence on real-life datasets
• Experience with ticker mapping, panel selection, and backtesting highly relevant
• Exposure to using data and analytics in investment research and decisions highly beneficial
• Experience working with credit card, payroll, web traffic, point of sale, supply chain, B2B transactions data highly beneficial
• Ability to collaborate with product managers and engineers on product design and production implementation
• Proactive and assertive in expressing ideas and elevating concerns
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong desire to build high quality products that will succeed in the market place
