Architect Solutions User Interface

Position Summary

The Architect Solutions User Interface (UI) will provide architecture, design, build, deploy and monitor implementation of solutions and products; and thought leadership for Customer and Crewmember Experience products and will ensure that architecture scales and meets non-functional requirements.

An active member of JetBlue’s Enterprise Architecture Team, the Architect partners with other architects in the organization; mentors, helps, advices and guides Tech leads, Scrum Teams and collaborates with cross functional teams during the lifecycle of a program, project or product.

The Architect leads the creation of UI architecture and design for multiple products, applications and/or systems that cover Customer or Crewmember Experience. Following Enterprise Architecture guidelines, the Architect Solutions UI makes sure that solutions fit within the overall enterprise architecture and escalates issues that affect enterprise architecture and strategy.

Essential Responsibilities
• Lead, architect, design, develop, and implement responsive solutions and products hosted in cloud environments following best practices and guidelines using Angular, JavaScript, REST Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and leading-edge technologies that will help evolve current technology stacks.
• Work with Scrum Teams and Tech Leads on the architecture, design, development, and engineering of different products.
• Architect, design and build new frameworks and maintain JetBlue’s current frameworks in collaboration with Tech Leads and other architects to support web and mobile experiences.
• Collaborate with other Architects and Tech Leads on envisioning of solutions and guidance during project estimation process.
• Ensure architecture of solutions are in alignment with Enterprise Architecture.
• Deliver end to end solution architecture for programs, projects or products that involve Web and Mobile Customer and Crewmember Experience products built for cloud focused on Omni channel responsive design.
• Serve as an ongoing point of contact during the project delivery and product development lifecycle focusing on product’s architecture throughout the project ensuring products meet requirements and enterprise architecture strategy.
• Create and collaborate in the completion of architecture documentation while complying with the enterprise architecture principles, guidelines, patterns, and standards.
• Partner with the documentation of customer journeys, functional and non-functional requirements to help architecture, platforms, systems, and infrastructure enablement.
• Provide effective communication to business and technical community on behalf of the domain.
• Work with development and production support teams to integrate, develop, refine, and implement architecture necessary for JetBlue’s products.
• Assist in the resolution of escalated technical support requests.
• Participate in the architecture review board to recommend architectures at the enterprise level.
• Provide business knowledge, architectural and technological mentorship to other JetBlue crewmembers.
• Partner and lead conversations with Platform Engineering team on CDN rules optimization.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field such as mathematics, engineering, information systems computer science or related discipline; and/or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through at least four (4) years of previous work experience and education.
• Five (5) years’ work experience as software engineer focused on Front-end experience integration.
• Technology experience should include Web and Mobile Experiences including JavaScript Frameworks (Angular), React, Node, jQuery, RESTful APIs, Scalable E-commerce sites, Content Management Systems and Omnichannel Experience.
• Experience developing SPA’s, asynchronous request handling, and AJAX.
• Exposure to DevOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) and tools like Jenkins, GitHub Functions.
• Exposure to Business and Enterprise Architecture practices.
• Available for frequent overnight travel (up to 10%).
• Able to work flexible hours and be available for emergency response on short notice.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located.
• Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications
• Five (5) years’ work experience with industry standards in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ITIL, project management and development methodologies (PMBOK, MSF, SEI, Agile Methods, RUP, etc.), and architecture standards (ATM, TOGAF, etc.).
• Three (3) years’ work experience with Event Driven and Integration architectures.
• Five (5) years’ work experience with Application, Information, or Integration architecture.
• Airline industry knowledge.
• Managing a full project or initiative, including presenting recommendations to senior leadership.
• Exposure to JetBlue’s IT disciplines and interdependencies.
• Exposure to JetBlue’s business units and how their needs drive IT strategy.

Crewmember Expectations:
• Regular attendance and punctuality.
• Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice.
• Able to maintain a professional appearance.
• When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft.
• Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun.
• Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards.
• Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))

Work Environment:
• Traditional office environment.

Compensation:
• The base pay range for this position is between $117,500.00 and $150,400.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
