Associate – US Insurance Services Ratings

The Location: New York, NY; CO, Denver; Toronto, CAN

Grade/Level ( relevant for internal applicants only ): 11

The Role:

The Associate undertakes rigorous analytical work and is proficient in conducting research and fundamental credit analysis, analyzing financial statements, developing forecast models, and writing analytical reports on rated issuers. The successful candidate works effectively both in a team and individually, possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills, is customer-oriented, and demonstrates solid presentation skills in front of internal and external audiences. We work in a hybrid environment with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote.

The Career Opportunity:

As an Associate, you are working as part of the Financial Services Ratings group at S&P Global Ratings. You will assume the role of primary analyst on a diverse credit list in the insurance services sector, including insurance brokers, claims and warranty administrators, and managed care cost containment companies (all rated under corporate methodology). Over time, the position will provide the opportunity to expand portfolio coverage to the property/casualty insurance sector as well. With the guidance of a senior analyst, you will take the lead on external meetings related to your credit list including ongoing analytical contact with rated entities’ senior management. You will surveil credits and present rating recommendations and analytical findings at internal reviews and committee discussions. You will publish timely and insightful credit reports and, over time, thought leadership pieces. You will also be a strong representative for the organization when interacting with investors, intermediaries, and the media.

What We’re Looking For:

• More than 3 years working in a financial industry setting

• Strong analytical skills, with a deep understanding of financial statements and accounting concepts, as well economic concepts.

• Strong Excel/Word/PowerPoint and database application skills.

• MBA and/or CFA is a plus, but not required

• Background in corporate credit analysis and/or knowledge of insurance industry is a plus, but not required

• Solid communication skills, verbal and written

• Self-starter, motivated, intellectually curious

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $85,700 to $170,400. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
