Your Opportunity
The Infrastructure Digital Practice (IDP) team has a job opening for an individual to join the team as a BIM/VDC Designer. This position involves being part of the team that leads the digital transformation of Stantec’s Infrastructure Business Operating Unit (BOU) through information modeling, design automation, computational design strategies, and various BIM technologies focused on both improving existing workflows and developing entirely new ones.
The IDP team is composed of digital experts whose primary goal is to increase the capacity of our designers, engineers, and scientists, providing higher-quality results and solutions to our clients. As such, this team utilizes a variety of software platforms focused on the development and execution of common BIM workflows (design documentation, clash detection, visualization, asset management, etc…) with a keen eye for identifying and resolving the interoperability challenges that arise from the use of disparate software platforms often required to create information models to the required Level of Detail (LOD) and Level of Information (LOI) on infrastructure projects.
This position is for a person with an education or background in Engineering or Architecture with a focus on BIM and VDC technologies. The ideal candidate will have a proven record as a team collaborator. As a member of the Infrastructure Digital Practice team and the NYC Transportation group, you will support and participate in the digital transformation of the Infrastructure Business Unit. These duties include BIM/VDC management, project coordination, Digital Project Execution Plan Development (BEP/BXP), and implementation of emerging design workflows. You will be mentored by others in the Infrastructure Digital Practice team in an environment with immense opportunity for growth.
Your Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a candidate who will:
• Assist on initiatives and efforts, as part of a collaborative team, with your BIM and CAD design expertise.
• Assist with the development of documentation, standards, best practices, and workflows for design/delivery hardware/software in use across the Infrastructure BOU.
• Serve as BIM/VDC/(or equivalent project specific nomenclature) Manager on major interdisciplinary projects.
• Serve as BIM/VDC/(or equivalent project specific nomenclature) Manager on NYC regional transportation projects.
• Provide direction and assistance to project teams with project scope, approach, setup, and delivery including the develop and implementation of Digital Project Execution Plans (BIM Execution Plans), model matrices, and other supporting digital scope documentation for each project.
• Represent Stantec as a subject matter expert for BIM-related subject matter for both internal and client-facing engagements.
• Influence, implement, and support interdisciplinary standards and process improvements related to digital project design and delivery
• Coordinate with Digital Practice teams in other regions ensuring the dissemination and exchange of knowledge across geographic boundaries.
• Evaluate and recommend BIM related technologies that can help improve current workflows.

• Strong understanding of Transportation’s systems design, layout, and coordination is preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of current modeling and drafting platforms (Bentley and/or Autodesk).
• Strong understanding of design coordination/clash detection process and technology.
• Successfully manage multiple priorities across multiple projects.
• Experience with developing and/or maintaining a Digital Project Execution Plan (BEP/BXP).
• Advanced knowledge of latest Autodesk and/or Bentley products including: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks Manage, Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, Projectwise, Synchro.
• Proficiency in the following platforms is not required but would be considered an asset: InfraWorks, Dynamo, GenerativeComponents, Python, C#, Inventor, 3ds Max, V-Ray, Unreal Engine, ArcGIS Pro, REST API, Autodesk Forge APIs, OpenBridge Designer
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Architecture.
• Master’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management with a focus on BIM/VDC, or minimum 2 years of experience in the AEC industry at the capacity of BIM/VDC manager or coordinator.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):
Salary Range(s):
• $86,600.00 – $125,600.00 (NYC location only)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
