Role Value Proposition

The Retirement & Income Solutions (“RIS”) business is part of MetLife’s U.S. Business. RIS delivers business-to-business retirement and benefit funding solutions in specialized financial and insurance markets.

RIS is a leading provider of stable value products, structured settlements, annuities for employer sponsored plans and life insurance funding products. As part of the RIS Contracts team this role works closely with the product, sales and legal teams to develop, file and issue contracts and related documents for new and existing products.

Key Responsibilities
• Support regulatory filings, using primarily the SERFF (including Interstate Insurance Compact) electronic filing system.
• Prepare filing submission documentation, and negotiate approvals with state insurance departments
• Develop and issue forms to support new and existing products within RIS. Determine variations in forms to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Assist in the analysis of proposed and enacted laws and regulations to identify required compliance activities.
• Research and respond to internal and external customer questions regarding contract features and compliance.
• Participate in special compliance, product development, and team projects on an as needed basis.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Analytical, problem solving and research skills.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to engage constructively with associates of various disciplines and levels as well as with insurance department regulators.
• Fast learner; Ability to apply learnings from one scenario to multiple other scenarios and adjust as necessary.
• Contract knowledge and/or technical writing skills.

Preferred:
• 3-5 years of contract development, compliance, legal or relevant business experience.
• Experience with financial products.
• Knowledge of the regulatory requirements and procedures for the development and filing of compliant contract forms associated with group annuity business.
• Knowledge of Stable Value business, defined contribution plans and ERISA
• JD degree

The wage range for applicants for this position is 70,200 to 93,600. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation.
