Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a collaborative and growth focused Environmental Compliance and Industrial Hygiene Team Leader to manage our growing EHS team consisting of staff in New York and New Jersey. The candidate will join the northeast EHS department as a team leader for the NYC metro area alongside teams located in upstate NY, PA, DC area, MA and ME. In this role, the person is expected to perform various management, leadership, sales, and growth responsibilities as one of the leaders of the NY Metro EHS team. This is a hybrid work model that includes 2-3 days per week in the AECOM office.
Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:
• Act as deputy team leader upon hire with the expectation that responsibility will transition to full team leader within one year
• Upon transition to team leader; perform various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for the EHS team in the NY Metro Area
• Upon transition to team leader; will manage a group of scientists and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the team
• Upon transition to team leader; will be responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments within the team
• Work closely with the NY Metro Growth Initiative team; work with cross-business line groups, developing strategy and fostering growth
• Advise management on growth, recruitment and retention, and strategy
• Support business development initiatives and engage with clients
• Provide mentorship to team members
• Apply expertise and knowledge to solve business challenges
• Prepare technical strategies, scopes, and budgets to support proposals
• Manage projects and/or programs within the EHS practice (safety, compliance reporting, auditing, hazardous materials management)
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
• BA/BS degree plus 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership
• 10 years of recent relevant experience to include one or more of the following:
• Experience managing and mentoring a team of technical professionals
• Experience managing small to large size public and private sector projects
• Experience managing scope and budget, and staff administration and development
• Experience with strategy, and growth plan development and execution
• Experience building client relationships, business development and client management
• Experience with project delivery and business development
• Due to the nature of this work, US Citizenship is required
• Valid US Driver’s License
Preferred Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or similar is preferred
• Certified Industrial Hygienist, helpful
• Certified Safety Professional, favored
• Professional Engineer
• Demonstrated experience developing scope, fee, and terms for proposals for interdisciplinary teams related to EHS services

• Some travel (up to 25%) is expected within the northeast region

Offered rate of compensation, in New York only, will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $133,500 – $173,500.
