Job Description

Local Trade Control Manager (Hybrid)

We are looking for a Local Trade Control Manager for our Westbury, NY facility. In this role you will be responsible for trade compliance in Oerlikon Metco US including, but not limited to, export controls, import prohibitions and restrictions, supply chain security programs, etc.

Your Responsibilities:
• Trade Control Compliance through process development and implementation
• Aids in the development of the company´s Internal Compliance Program (ICP) and Technology Control Plan (TCP)
• Conduct trainings and assessments, internal audits for export/trade control compliance
• Conducts sanction party screening and end user certificate reviews, Red Flags due diligence and Anti-boycott reviews
• Reviews and updates Global Trade System (GTS) sanctioned party screening blocked documents and blocked partner lists
• Facilitates product and technology export classifications
• Close alignment with local management team, Trade Control Manager and corporate functions
• Stop right to any transactions within the business
• Implements and maintains local policies and procedures in compliance with national, local export control regulation other competent export regulations if applicable
• Drives process improvements for compliance to the legal regulation within Export Control
• Suggests local company policy, supporting documents, etc. for documentation and record retention
• Prepares and submits export license applications with the BIS, DDTC or OFAC
• Ensures export licenses are communicated and followed by stakeholders as well as the riders and provisions
• Is legally empowered in writing by the applicant to sign license applications or other requests for approval on behalf of the applicant
• Has the independent authority to:
• Inquire into any aspect of a proposed export, temporary import, or brokering activity by the applicant;
• Verify the legality of the transaction and the accuracy of the information to be submitted;
• Refuse to sign any license application or other request for approval without prejudice or other adverse recourse

Your Profile:
• Job requires a US person (this includes US Citizens, US Nationals, lawful permenant residents, refugees and asylees)
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Foreign Trade, Economics or Law
• 3+ years of experience in international trade control environment of a globally acting US high-tech enterprise
• Proven attendance of multiple certified export control seminars and courses preferred
• Familiarity with import restrictions/prohibitions and C-TPAT
• Option to obtain USG clearance for classified information (if required)
• Detailed knowledge of the prevailing regulations (EAR, ITAR, OFAC)
• Ability to describe complex processes/circumstances (process descriptions, work instructions, etc.)
• Capability to teach trainees on all hierarchical levels
• Self-motivated and target-oriented work style
• Ability to deal with ambiguity
• Excellent technical understanding
• Fluency in the English language and other languages desired
• Good working knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft Office package products
