Manager, Earned Media Strategy / Media Relations

About the Opportunity

The Weber Shandwick team is currently seeking a Manager (Account Supervisor equivalent) with exceptional media relations prowess to support several corporate clients in our Corporate Practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in corporate and brand reputation building communications, managing executive visibility, earned media strategy and execution with experience and comfort working across sectors. Responsibilities
• Manage and build relationships with media
• Monitor media outlets for coverage of client news and competitor developments
• Creatively and proactively develop media programs
• Contribute to the development processes of integrated media strategies for major campaigns and product launches
• Take responsibility to execute media relations strategies
• Understand industry issues that directly and indirectly affect the client
• Brainstorm and pitch compelling ideas for media and influencer pitch efforts
• Mine current news cycle for ad hoc media opportunities
• Develop proposals, releases, newsroom blogs, bylined articles, and other press materials
• Proof and edit client related documents as needed
• Communicate with clients on daily basis and provide basic client counsel
• Serve as a key participant in client meetings and presentations
• Conduct and manage the flow of research and work materials necessary to analyze client issues
• Mentor junior staff

Basic Qualifications
• 1-2 years experience managing/leading small groups and projects
• 3-5 years experience in a PR/communications role(s)
• Media relations experience
• Bachelor’s Degree

NYC Salary range: $74,000 – $85,000

Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
