This is a hybrid position that can be based out of our New York City or Columbus, OH headquarters.
Your Role
The Merchandise Planner is responsible for the planning and execution of sales, margin, and inventory for assigned categories/brands within the Emerging Businesses portfolio. This role supports the Planning Manager through analysis of in-season and past season’s business for their assigned brands. This role collaborates with cross-functional partners in Merchandising, Central Planning, Production, Finance, and Digital Merchandising

Your Impact
• Pre-Season Planning: Connecting statistical analysis, assortment architecture, and merchant vision into a pre-season view of merchandise plan(s).
• In-Season Planning: Develop financial architecture aligned with category/brand strategies and calendars while ensuring the relationship to total Emerging Businesses target and strategy.
• Manage relationship of regular to promotional sale sensitivities and markdown cadence in accordance with MAP policies.
• Assortment architecture: Balance assortment by driving top line sales and profit through focus on key products/initiatives, while incubating new product through test and learn agendas.
• Develop weekly sales plans at the category/brand level driven by choice level lifecycle plans based on both trend and historical performance. Manage receipt and markdown plans at a choice-level tied back to sales and budget.
• Inventory Management: Manage receipts to budget by scrutinizing buys with a focus on optimal inventory turn, while taking into consideration individual brand calendars and flow of newness. Maintain direct communication with brands pertaining to deliveries.
• Manage the critical assessment and hindsight of merchandise strategy to inform future planning and execution activities.
• Execute key weekly reporting utilized by cross-functional teams to analyze the business. Analyze and report on results with a focus on action planning.
• Function as project manager for ad hoc projects, system implementations and updates, merchandise initiatives, etc.
Minimum Salary: $96,800.00
Maximum Salary: $127,050.00
VS&Co provides a range of compensation for this role as shown. Your actual salary will be determined by a number of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic region, or other relevant factors.
Qualifications
Your Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Operations or Statistics. Advanced degree in quantitative analysis, finance or business administration preferred
• 3 – 5 years of experience in retail merchandise planning, inventory management, financial planning or financial analysis required
• Strong numbers aptitude (statistical/accounting experience)
• Proficient with forecasting methodologies and statistical modeling
• Ability to advance to high levels of computer literacy; exposure to relevant planning, finance, analytical, data management systems: Microsoft Office Suite; Excel Add-In; Enterprise Planning; and Microstrategy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills; concisely presents complex information/recommendations in terms meaningful to various audiences

• Direct and/or third-party planning experience is a plus
