Job Overview:

As a Research Analyst, you will partner closely with our Private Capital (PC) business supporting secondary research efforts to ensure successful delivery of client work focused on diligence projects as well as other corporate finance and advisory projects. The PC business is fast paced as Oliver Wyman serves private equity firms and their portfolio companies with a focus on delivering a differentiated return on investment across the investment cycle. The team is looking for support of commercial due diligences and portfolio commercial effectiveness and operations work. This internal research role will support client project delivery and work closely and collaboratively with our Private Capital consultant teams.

You will have expert level research skills and ability to quickly develop knowledge of research tools to facilitate effective and creative research approaches. Over time, you will develop increased industry specialization. You will help consultants scope and develop their research needs, conduct timely, accurate, creative and cost-effective research for those focused needs, and deliver compelling summarized end products which will include some analyses. PC client engagements are heavily data driven. You are expected to have high Microsoft Excel proficiency to effectively manipulate and analyze large data sets.

The development focus will be toward deep industry specialization, resource expertise, continuous improvement in output synthesis and analysis. You will provide active training and learning opportunities to more junior research colleagues. The role will also require you to provide ad hoc and programmatic analysis of key business drivers related to specific sectors in support of both client and business development. Key Responsibilities:
• The candidate will help scope and develop their research needs, conduct timely, accurate and cost-effective research for those focused needs, and deliver compelling summarized end products which will include some analyses including client ready presentations/materials, to support proposal or project
• Manage large data sets and conduct data analyses; strong excel skills are important
• Take ownership and lead of customized research products/services. Identify opportunities for new customized research products/services introduction (sector/company fact packs, benchmarks, trend analysis or support for OW reports)
• Contribute to developing the story line or taking on responsibility for a module of research
• Demonstrate strong collaboration skills. You will be required to collaborate with global Knowledge Services team members sharing ideas and experiences. Part of your role will be to coach junior research colleagues
• Support delivery of training and intro sessions on information resources to new joiners and junior staff
• Maintain and create frequently used datasets for efficient team use
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and a continuous learning mindset will be critical for success

Experience Required:
• 3-5 years of prior experience in a research, analyst, or consulting role
• Related research experience working at a management consulting firm as a research analyst in the Industrials, Manufacturing or Automotive segments is beneficial but not required
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Familiar with Bloomberg, Refinitv Eikon, Factiva, Preqin, Capital IQ or similar market data tools
• Knowledge of Python, Web Scraping or Power BI is beneficial

The applicable base salary range for this role is $75,000 to $115,000.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
