Job Description

Penguin Random House Sales is currently hiring a Sales Director to oversee the team of National Account Managers selling Penguin Random House Publisher Services Children’s titles to Barnes & Noble, Amazon and Books-A-Million. This position will direct the daily sales activities for the team and will be responsible for maintaining and strengthening our existing relationships with these key accounts. The Director will also establish relationships with each client publisher to maximize sales opportunities for this unique group of publishers. Additionally, the Sales Director will work closely with all sales channels to streamline processes and maximize sales and collaboration across the marketplace.

In this highly visible role, the Sales Director will also work closely with publishing colleagues, including participating in title planning during launch, and sales conference meetings.

Responsibilities:
• Strategize on the development and growth of front- and backlist titles at B&N, BAM and Amazon.
• Work with VP, National Accounts/Director, PRHPS Children’s Sales to plan annual account business and to maximize sales growth.
• Manage monthly and annual account budgets.
• Coordinate with account to share, define, and develop opportunities to increase sales.
• Supervise a team of National Accounts Managers on day-to-day activities and on maximizing channel sales.
• Regularly communicate with customers and liaise with account teams on marketing and promotional opportunities in stores and online.
• Provide feedback to publishing and sales teams on market trends and account initiatives.
• Works with the VP, National Accounts/Director, PRHPS Children’s Sales who oversees the PRHPS National Accounts team to streamline account communication.
• Coordinate engagement for PRHPS Children’s business across all sales channels

• Minimum of 7 of prior publishing sales/marketing experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and problem solve
• Proactive and able to adapt to changing priorities and environments
• Proven ability to successfully plan and manage at both the strategic and operational levels
• Knowledgeable of the overall book marketing, including familiarity with industry supply chain, authors, titles, category performance, and publishing trends
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Prior supervisory experience is strongly preferred
• Experience creating and managing budgets is a plus

The salary range for this position is $85,000 – $100,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
