Job Description

Penguin Random House, the leading publishing house globally, is on a mission to ignite a universal passion for reading by creating books for everyone and we’re excited to hire for a Sales Marketing Associate to join the Random House Publishing Group.

Reporting directly into the VP & Director, Sales Marketing, you’ll operate as a key liaison between the company’s sales team and the Random House Group’s publishing editorial, marketing, publicity, art and production departments. To be successful in this role we feel you’ll have a clear and concise communication style, a team mindset, and excellent time-management skills. There are a lot of moving parts in a role that’s as varied as the books and teams you’ll be supporting!

The innovative team orchestrating materials for our industry-leading sales reps is seeking someone who can keep the trains running on time. You enjoy using your organizational skills to streamline processes, and notice details others don’t. You can quickly switch gears to get to projects that drop into the schedule. You can easily switch hats to get creative and craft memorable presentations. And perhaps most of all, you want to help spread the word about amazing books that entertain, enlighten, and inform.

Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:
• Communicating schedules and tracking deadlines for seasonal sales materials
• Coordinating logistics for weekly and seasonal meetings, including post-meeting follow-up
• Trafficking and proofreading catalog copy, and managing catalog content
• Creating and proofreading PowerPoint decks and sellsheets for weekly and seasonal sales meetings
• Managing the delivery of early reading materials (manuscripts, excerpts, digital reading copies, early sample copies) and book/cover mockups
• Coordinating mailings to booksellers and other industry contacts, drafting letters to accompany mailings as needed
• Departmental administrative duties as needed

Ideally we’re looking for you to be:
• Attentive to detail, highly organized, flexible, and able to juggle multiple tasks and successfully prioritize them
• Able to showcase your strong interpersonal, communication, and time-management skills as you’ll work with a number of different departments and colleagues at varying levels
• Comfortable working across a number of projects and deadlines and adapting your communication style depending on who you’re meeting and working with
• Highly proficient with the entire Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

This is an amazing opportunity to join a small and pivotal team where you’ll be exposed to the inner workings of the administrative functions of how we sell our books. This role will operate on a hybrid capacity, as there will be in-office responsibilities, including collaboration with publishing colleagues, production, and cover art, and so you must be able to commute into our NYC office, at Columbus Circle.

The salary for this position is $53,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results. Please apply by September 25th, 2023 at 11:59pm EDT for consideration, using our online application process and be sure to include your resume and cover letter.
