Thornton Tomasetti, Inc. seeks Senior Engineer – Transportation Infrastructure Designs and Construction Support Services in New York, NY to perform design analysis and prepare contract plans for new and rehabilitated bridge structural systems and components. Requirements: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or a related field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or related occupation: utilizing AASHTO Load Factor Resistance Design (LRFD) Bridge Design Specifications and New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) and New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) design standards and manuals; working with structural concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within structural engineering services industry; working on infrastructure transportation projects including working with design and detail steel and concrete structural members, grid decks, and steel orthotropic decks per American Welding Society (AWS), American Institution of Steel Construction (AISC), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) design codes, and NYSDOT Bridge Design Specifications; reviewing construction administration including coordination with field personnel to resolve design-related issues, structural calculations and quantity take-off, field inspections, and testing of materials; utilizing finite element analysis applications including SAP and ANSYS to perform structural analysis and design; developing steel repair contract plans for defective structural components identified from coandition inspection reports; developing macros in MathCAD to establish routines of load-rating analysis and modifications to existing bridge components under active vehicular load; utilizing experience with bridge rehabilitation procedures and practices including inspecting bridge components and performing load-rating analysis with AASHTO Bridge Maintenance Specifications to assess if repair is required. Offered salary is between $86,133 and $102,300 per year. 40 hours per week. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. Compensation The rate for this position generally is $86,133 – $102,300 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee’s pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
