Job Description:

At HelloFresh, we’re building a cross-functional team of data scientists, analysts and engineers with the mission to bring the modeling and analytical capabilities of our marketing organization to the next level.

As a Senior Project Owner, you will support the analytic needs of our Growth organization for HelloFresh US. You will play a pivotal role in helping us continue to succeed as the leading global meal kit provider. You will within the analytics engineering division of our business intelligence team and is a hands-on contributor. You will enable the engineering and business intelligence teams to solve challenging problems using customer and business data in our data warehouse. In this specific use case, the data warehouse is our core product with additional stakeholder-facing products powered by data stored in the data warehouse. Stakeholder-facing products will vary from Tableau dashboards to one-time analyses to data science models.

This role requires a seasoned Product Owner with experience in the marketing analytics domain who will take the initiative to help us establish best practices and standardize processes for our team. To succeed in this role, you must strive to drive understanding between stakeholder needs/requirements and our engineering/business intelligence team and have a passion for helping the engineering team improve our HelloFresh data ecosystem.

What you will do
• Meet with marketing stakeholders to gather requirements for data ingestion (tables in the data warehouse), new KPIs, dashboards, small data-entry applications, data science models, and documentation. Makes judgment calls related to when to involve team leads or specific engineers in stakeholder discussions.
• Understands the marketing domain such that you can work closely with marketing on their requirements and understands/guides marketing towards best practice analytical solutions as necessary.
• Work with the senior leaders of Marketing Analytics US to execute on our team strategy by developing the initiative roadmap & managing the backlog.
• Write actionable user stories and acceptance criteria for engineers when submitting requirements to the engineering team.
• Act as a liaison between engineering/business intelligence and marketing stakeholders. Needs to be able to translate between marketing terminology and engineering terminology when engaging with both parties.
• Spearhead a communication strategy to marketing stakeholders and other data teams at HelloFresh, such that we’re always providing active/timely communication on deployments, deadlines, and delays.
• Consult on our Jira configuration such that we’re collecting the right information from stakeholders submitting tickets at the right time. Help the team with triaging initial ticket requests by gathering additional information/requirements when necessary.
• Advise on the direction for the PO division within our Marketing Analytics US team, collaborating with product owners on other tech teams as HelloFresh.
• Take initiative to solve problems within the purview of a project owner. Acts as a highly experienced project owner who doesn’t need to be given specific tasks, regularly collaborates with leadership on prioritization, communication, roadmaps, etc. Exemplifies leadership by communicating and addressing areas for improvement.
• Understands when to say “yes”, “no”, and “not right now” to marketing stakeholders, leadership, and engineers. It’s important that our engineering teams strategically dedicate their time to the right tasks/initiatives rather than saying “yes” to every request.
• Understands and balances the need for new development with the need for tech debt remediation.
• Sets realistic project timelines with marketing stakeholders & engineers by working closely with leadership and engineers.
• Is able to keep up in a fast paced environment where the team is always executing on multiple projects. At times, priorities change frequently and the Project Owner is able to adjust prioritization, backlogs, and roadmaps accordingly while communicating with all parties related to how a change in priorities will impact deadlines.
• As the Project Owner for the data warehouse, basic competency in SQL and Tableau such that you’re able to interact with our products.
• Knowledge of what a data warehouse is, how to gather appropriate requirements for a data warehouse, including some data warehousing/data governance best practices and terminology such as “slowly changing dimension” and “source of truth”.

What you will bring
• A bachelors or masters degree, preferably in an engineering field.
• At least 3-5 years of professional experience either working in data warehousing with an abundance of stakeholder experience or as a project owner for a data warehouse.
• At least 2 years of experience working directly in the marketing domain. Knowledge of traditional marketing business processes and terminology.
• Prior experience in Analytics, BI, or Marketing Analytics is a plus.
• At least 3-5 years of experience managing stakeholders. Highly proficient in managing stakeholders.
• Basic proficiency in SQL and Tableau.

New York Pay Range
$120,000—$140,000 USD
