Job Overview
NTT DATA Services is seeking a highly skilled and motivated SQL Server DBA to join our team in Port Washington, New York (US-NY), United States (US). As a member of our dynamic DBA team, you will be responsible for managing and supporting client database systems, ensuring their availability, scalability, and optimal performance. The ideal candidate possesses a solid technical foundation in database architecture, configuration, provisioning/installation, and maintenance, along with hands-on experience in building and supporting highly available and scalable systems.
Compensation
The pay range for this remote role is $91,000 to $141,000. Actual compensation will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance. Responsibilities
• Manage and oversee the entire lifecycle of SQL Server databases, from development to mission-critical production systems, including SQL Server clusters, SSIS and SSRS infrastructure.
• Configure, monitor, and maintain database servers and processes to ensure high levels of performance, availability, security, and compliance.
• Perform scheduled maintenance tasks and support release deployment activities outside of regular working hours.
• Provide 24×7 support for critical production systems, promptly addressing any issues that may arise.
• Monitor and troubleshoot database systems, ensuring data integrity, security, and optimal performance.
• Develop and implement strategies for data protection and lifecycle management, including backup and recovery, disaster recovery, data retention, and capacity planning.
• Independently analyze and resolve database issues in real-time, providing end-to-end problem resolution.
• Collaborate with developers to review SQL code for performance, scalability, and security optimizations.
• Analyze indexes and execution plans to identify performance improvements and provide guidance on optimal T-SQL coding standards.
• Assist engineering teams in troubleshooting and optimizing queries, stored procedures, views, and functions to address performance issues.
• Utilize industry best practices and coding techniques to refine operational procedures and processes, ensuring solution reliability.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of database schema changes, ETL processes, and other relevant information in a SQL Server production environment.
• Evaluate the benefits of new SQL Server features and versions, making recommendations for their adoption when appropriate.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation, including diagrams of the database infrastructure.
• Gain a deep understanding of relevant business processes, data flow, criticality, and dependencies.
• Troubleshoot and develop SSIS packages as needed.
• Collaborate with engineers to create optimized SQL code and provide technical mentorship and cross-training to team members.
Requirements
• 10 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration and Engineering.
• Experience with RDBMS concepts, database architecture, and SQL/T-SQL.
• Experience with database security concepts, including data encryption at rest and in transit.
• Experience with SQL Server Profiler for monitoring and troubleshooting database activity and performance.
• Experience with SQL Server Clustering and HA technologies, such as mirroring, log shipping, Always On, block-level replication, and failover clusters.
• Experience with SQL Server change data capture (CDC), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
• Expertise in T-SQL DDL/DML, including stored procedures, functions, CLR, triggers, cursors, SMO, query plans, hints, partitioning, and OLAP.
• Experience with SQL Server isolation levels, transaction processing, batch processing, lock escalation, and error handling fundamentals.
• Experience writing complex SQL queries involving multiple tables and inner and outer joins.
• Experience with snapshot isolation models in SQL Server.
• Experience in ETL development and data integration.
• Experience with version control systems, such as Git.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
