The Sonnenberg Gardens is located in Canandaigua, New York not far from Canandaigua lake, has a rich history as the summer home of married couple banker Frederick Ferris and Mary Clark Thompson back in 1887.
Today, the 50-acre estate is open to the public with greenhouses, large open area gardens including a Japanese garden which is recognized as the first such garden in the United States.
