POSITION SUMMARY:
As an Associate Designer for Women’s Sweaters, you will play a crucial role in supporting the design team in creating stylish and functional sweater collections for women. Your responsibilities will involve assisting in the design process, conducting research, and contributing to the development of sweater designs that align with the brand’s vision and market trends. You will collaborate with the design team, gain valuable experience, and contribute to the brand’s success in the women’s sweater market.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:
Research and Inspiration:
• Assist in researching fashion trends, color palettes, yarns, knitting techniques, and sweater styles relevant to women’s sweaters.
• Participate in market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for innovation and product differentiation.
Design Development:
• Collaborate with the design team to create sketches, illustrations, and technical drawings for women’s sweater designs.
• Contribute ideas and concepts to help shape the overall direction of sweater collections.
Material and Yarn Selection:
• Support the design team in sourcing and selecting suitable yarns, materials, and trims for sweater prototypes and production.
• Work closely with suppliers and product developers to ensure material availability and quality.
Tech Pack Creation:
• Assist in creating detailed tech packs and design specifications for sweater samples and production.
Sample Review and Fit Sessions:
• Participate in sample reviews and fit sessions to provide feedback on the fit, construction, and design details of sweater prototypes.
Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product developers and merchandisers, to ensure seamless execution of sweater designs.
• Effectively communicate design concepts and ideas to team members and stakeholders.
Brand Alignment:
• Understand and maintain the brand’s design aesthetic and language in all women’s sweater products.
• Collaborate with the design team and brand team to ensure consistency in storytelling and branding across sweater collections.
Trend Presentation:
• Assist in preparing trend presentations and mood boards to inspire and inform the design process.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Experience:
• 2-4 years of related apparel design experience
• Some experience or internships in fashion design, preferably in women’s sweaters or a related category.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
Skills:
• Knowledge of design software and tools like Adobe Creative Suite.
• Passion for fashion, creativity, and a keen eye for sweater trends and aesthetics.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively present ideas.
DECISION MAKING: Daily decisions regarding production issues: color, fabric, trim approvals; these decisions affect the overall quality and outcome of the product. Collaborate with design leads on direction of the product by delivery to drive sales and evolve the product. Advise technical design team on design vision for fit of all products.
RESOURCEFULNESS/CREATIVITY: Able to design and handle multiple seasons at one time. Maintain consistent high quality of product from season to season, vendor to vendor. Flexible in designs to meet sales needs while still providing newness to products. Willing to make updates as needed to meet the changing business needs. Must be very organized and detailed to effectively follow up on preproduction approvals. Highly creative in design to provide newness and drive sales while maintaining the correct technical approach.

Pay Range:
$70,000 – $85,000

These ranges are based on what PVH reasonably believes that it will pay an associate for their base salary for said position at the time of the posting. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors including but-not limited to qualifications, geographic location and other relevant skills.
