We carry over one million industrial, material handling and business products that are sold through our website, corporate sales people and full color catalogs. We are constantly increasing our product offerings to meet the diverse and changing needs of our customers. Our customers include small to large corporations, institutions, government agencies and consumers across North America.

Key Responsibilities

Production planning and creation of strategic sourcing vendor matrix and scorecard to achieve quality and profitability targets. Your efforts will also support the company’s ESG initiatives including areas such as sustainable packaging.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute cost savings strategies across a diverse product offering of Industrial Supplies

• Analyze all aspects of the BOM across suppliers to identify cost savings and sourcing efficiencies

• Negotiate with suppliers on cost reductions, lead time reductions, and overall improvements in quality

• Evaluate supplier capabilities for product/production abilities and social & safety compliance; create Vendor Scorecard to rate performance and capabilities

• Collaborate with the product development team in identifying new sources of supply for key product lines from overseas, near-shore and on-shore regions

• Collaborate with the Product Development, Quality Assurance, and Engineering teams to audit, approve and onboard suppliers

• Prepare requests for quotations (RFQs/RFPs), analyze supplier responses, negotiate pricing and work with Purchasing team on awards of business

• Effectively plans for and mitigates risks on projects and work streams.

• Works effectively with others; capable of “flexing” between big picture strategy and detailed execution.

• Analytical, capable of developing and managing related analytics, reports and metrics.

• Track and report to Global stakeholders key cost drivers of commodity prices, labor rates, currencies, transportation, etc. in guiding pricing expectations and strategies.

Competencies and skills

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required

• Minimum 5-10 years’ experience managing global manufacturing, contracted suppliers

• Prior supervisory and leadership roles

Skills & Abilities

• Ability to work independently, smart and work fast in driving results and achieving goals

• Lead and manage a team of resources including internal direct and/or cross-functional indirect reports as well as outside vendors and independent contractors

• Tracking, analysis, reporting and presentation of data using common software packages including but limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint

• Use of ERP systems. PCS knowledge preferred

• Familiarity with MRO and industrial products

• Persistence & Resilience

• Experience presenting information to members of leadership teams both within and outside of the organization

• Strong interpersonal skills and experience working on cross functional teams

• Working non-traditional hours (not 9-5) when communication with other time zones is needed

Travel

• Up to 25%; domestic and international (assuming no Covid restrictions)
