Head of Product Engineering – Nuveen

Job Description

The Application Development Leader manages multiple teams led by managers and/or team leaders that completes the analysis, programming, development and configuration of information technology (IT) systems software. This job coaches team members on best methods of software development and operational goal setting. Working with the leadership team, this job provides team and project leadership for software development activities.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
• Reviews the configuration, customization, diagnosis and enhancements of the operating systems software and application developments created by the information technology (IT) team.
• Communicates and implements the strategic direction of the operation.
• Approves the development and implementation of new products, processes and operational plans.
• Provides advice and recommendations to maximize the outcomes of development investments for the application development department.
• Collaborate with IT partners to devise capacity plan and ensure appropriate infrastructure for the end-to-end system delivery.
• Defines scope and objectives for software development team goals.
• Manages performance of team through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional service and engagement, motivation and development of team.
Educational Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree Required

Required Skills:
• 8+ years of experience leading teams of engineers in product development at a financial services/asset management company
• At least 8 years of experience with in a product development role with a track record of successful product launches
• Experience leading teams of engineers to build financial services products with AWS stack and full stack java development .
• 8+ years experience in Product Management or adjacent roles (could include engineering, strategy, system architecture, etc) with an emphasis on technical and enterprise products.
• 8+ years experience in leadership roles

Preferred Skills:
• Use analytical skills and strategic perspective to identify trends & recommend solutions that will help improve the user experience
• Support the Asset Management Product teams to ensure in the identification of technical problems, and devise solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with design, analytics, engagement, project management, and engineering
• Assists in coordinating communications, escalates and facilitates resolution of risks, issues, and changes tied to the trade life cycle initiatives
• Utilizes relevant reporting tools to report on and analyze key metrics
• Support reporting activities associated with rapid and iterative development

Base Pay Range: $174,400/yr. – $244,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
