Purpose of Role
As part of Under Armour’s communications team, the Senior Director of Global Media Relations is responsible for setting the narrative for the company creating compelling stories not only at the enterprise level but also for the CEO, brands and athletes.
We are looking for a Senior Director of Global Media Relations who can lead and evolve our media relations program, source compelling stories from across the company, and develop creative strategies to bring our stories to life through earned, owned and paid media channels. This role will also drive media relations for the CEO and Head of Brand. Equal parts strategy and execution, this role calls for someone who can manage multiple programs simultaneously while also ensuring that every single element ladders up to larger corporate narrative and objectives. Inclusive in Global Media Relations is social impact communications and strategic media partnerships.
Media relations experience, and a fluency in both internal and external communications are a must. This individual will join a dynamic team that operates in a fast-paced environment delivering high-impact work.
Your Impact
• Create global narrative and messaging
• Enhance the awareness, brand identity and reputation of Under Armour through external storytelling, including media relations and social media
• Build and maintain relationships with key top tier media, bloggers, and influencers
• Provide informed and accurate background briefings to media; Serve as a company spokesperson (as appropriate)
• Identify, develop and execute media opportunities for UA executives to advance the understanding of UA’s story
• Work cross-functionally across the organization to source compelling stories about UA’s innovation, culture, people, diversity and inclusion efforts, and more, and develop creative strategies to tell those stories
Qualifications
• Past success leading and executing strategic communications campaigns and working with media to build brand awareness and reputation
• Strategic development of exec social platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram
• Excellent writing and project management skills
• Strong interest in consumer brands, finance, and commerce
• Ability to multi-task and work well in a team environment
• Ability to respond quickly to changing business needs
• Good judgment and attention to detail – particularly in confidential situations and high-pressure times
• Excellent ability to understand complex ideas and distill sometimes ambiguous issues
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 15+ years of experience in communications or public relations (PR agency experience a plus)
Workplace Location
• Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our New York Office
• Return to Work Designation: 3 days a week in-office, the remainder of work week remote.

Base Compensation
$247,133.00 – $339,807.60 USD
Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual’s relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position. UA is committed to helping our teammates succeed and advance in their careers. Base salary is only one component of our competitive Total Rewards package.
