The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Automation Operations Specialist focused on our Duo and Duo+ product. The Automation Operations Specialist is responsible for effectively partnering with a customer during the implementation process to fully execute and adopt the QuidelOrtho solution. The Automation Operations Specialist will contribute to the development of training content (virtual and hardcopy) and operational specific guides in alignment with the global strategy. This role will prepare customer level guides and maintain stocking of materials. The Automation Operations Specialist will be responsible for delivering a quality and comprehensive training experience while customizing the approach to effectively coach laboratory staff. This is a remote, work from home position that offers a company car, gas card, laptop, and cell phone, and all vehicle maintenance will be covered by QuidelOrtho. This field based position will covers customer throughout the US.

The Responsibilities
• Partner cross functionally to understand the contractual and business requirements of the solution
• Develop a plan of action to meet and exceed expectations and project timeline requirements
• Develop and implement standard Instrument Manager package
• Deliver formal workflow training on the total VAS solution (including instrumentation, Instrument Manager and Automation equipment). This includes virtual and onsite capabilities.
• Observe workflow and partner with the customer to incorporate the QuidelOrtho solution into the laboratory process
• Ensure customer satisfaction, by setting expectations, customizing training plan to achieve the desired outcome of the customer to confidently operate our systems to meet the requirements of the business
• Strong understanding of laboratory process workflow.
• Proven ability to foster and manage working relationships within a matrix environment to obtain alignment and drive results. Identifies and manages the appropriate resources through the duration of the project to drive results
• Prioritizes demands from multiple areas to develop and execute plans balancing the needs of the business and customer. Attention to detail and multi-tasking skills are critical to managing competing priorities.
• Proven ability to leverage knowledge base to quickly learn new business areas and new types of projects
• Foster and implement change practices for the Implementation and Commercial partners to ensure adoption and demonstration of new standards and best practices
• Partner internally to support sales and business outcomes as needed including customer presentations, procedural documentation and subject matter expert guidance
• Ability to evaluate and contribute to the enhancement of existing and development of new training content and delivery medium (including eLearning, Job Aids, SOP’s and reference material). Work with script writing, script editing, video production, acting and editing
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned

Required:
• Education: BS/BA Degree in Business, Life Science, or related field (or 4 years equivalent experience)
• Experience: 7+ years experience in healthcare, clinical laboratory, transfusion medicine, or equivalent clinical setting
• Working knowledge of laboratory practices and optimizing workflow
• Ability to drive results while working in a highly matrixed and fast-paced team environment
• Highly skilled at understanding the needs of a customer and adjusting actions to deliver desired results
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Flexible Work schedule will be required to meet customers timelines
• Advanced knowledge and experience of middleware functionality
• Travel: Ability to do up to 80% domestic travel

Preferred:
• Experience with Ortho Clinical Instruments, including Automation
• Prior experience as a Field Application Specialist, Laboratory Automation Support Specialist, or Laboratory Automation Implementation Engineer

• Field Service: Field Service Engineer Associates, Senior Field Service Engineers, Area Service Engineers, Regional Service Managers, Area Service Directors
• Sales: Area Sales Directors, Account Managers, Strategic Account Executives, Business Development Managers, Channel Sales Managers
• Technical Specialists, Field Application Specialists, Area Technical Specialists, Technical Support Specialists
• Interacts with other aspects of the organization as required (e.g., Finance, HR, IT, Customer Service, etc.)

External Partners:
• Customers including but not limited to Laboratory Managers, Supervisors.

The Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of a laboratory environment and include handling of viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals, as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues, and samples. Typical work week and hours with extended hours required. Working outside normal office hours during specific circumstances such as on-site training may be required. Position requires ability to lift to 50 lbs. or more at least 35 % of the day on a regular basis. Walking, standing, and climbing for extended periods of time (up to 50% of the day) are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be physically able to travel up to 80%. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required at all times. Must maintain an automobile suitable for travel to customer sites, airport, etc. Travel includes airplane, train, automobile, and overnights.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on that facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $143,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time) and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
