The Director, Global Trade Compliance is responsible for managing the Pall Industrial export and import trade compliance program globally with the Life Sciences Platform Trade Compliance Director, the role will also manage the Platform’s global Export Compliance program and develop and implement export compliance improvement processes, including but not limited to export screening, export licensing, and export classification.

This position reports directly to the Life Sciences Platform Director of Trade Compliance with a dotted line responsibility to Pall’s Global Head of Compliance, Risk & Privacy, and will be a partially onsite ( hybrid) position located in Port Washington, NY. The Director Trade Compliance will oversee at least 3-4 direct reports located at various Pall sites, with a view to achieve an organizational re-design of the Trade Compliance function and will work to improve and execute all aspects of Danaher’s trade compliance programs, including process design, periodic self-testing, training and education, and business strategy review.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
• Advise Trade Compliance global team; Operations, Business Units, Sales staff and site GMs on business-critical import and export compliance matters.
• Provide global trade compliance oversight of activities at all Pall’s sites.
• Serve as a business partner to enable long-reaching strategic decisions (e.g., manufacturing and R&D footprint, OEM partnerships, product branding and launching, and mergers & acquisitions)
• Partnering with other trade compliance leads, Supply-Chain and Manufacturing team members to evaluate products and determine preferential and non-preferential origin and duty mitigation strategies (such as the use of Free Trade Agreement) worldwide.
• Work collaboratively with site leaders to ensure robust internal controls are integrated into operational processes and procedures.
• Analyze and interpret requirements for compliance as they relate to:
• Export Administration Regulations (EAR) of the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS),
• U.S. Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC),
• International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR) of the U.S. Department of State;
• EU, U.S. Customs and other applicable Government Agency rules and regulations.
• Customs methodologies as they relate to classification, Valuation and origin.
• Develop, implement, and maintain export related audits

The minimum requirements of the job include:
• Bachelor’s degree, supplemented by a JD or other graduate degree in a trade or compliance related field is preferred.
• 12 + Years of functional / professional experience in global trade compliance
• 7+ years leading and developing cross-border teams, preferably spanning multiple industries.
• Proven experience in prioritizing multiple global cross-functional projects.
• Current and extensive knowledge of HS Classification; Valuation and Rules of Origin procedures as well as Export Administration Regulations (EAR) of the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), U.S. Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Regulations, International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR) of the U.S. Department of State, and other applicable International Export rules and regulations.

• Must have strong executive presence and confidence in advising business leaders in regard to trade and compliance issues.
• Ability to analyze risk and reward with intellectual and professional rigor.
• Must be able to work onsite at Port Washington NY up to three days per week ( relocation assistance may be considered for this role ) #LI-hybrid
