Job Description
Lucas Meyer Cosmetics is the business unit of International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (IFF) which develops, manufactures, and markets innovative ingredients for the cosmetic and personal care industry. We offer active ingredients, functional ingredients, and delivery systems from various origins. The candidate would ideally live in the NY tri-state area as a flex role or within the Midwest as a remote role with 30%- 50% travel required within the territory, as well as to corporate offices (NY, Canada, and/or France) for training, and industry events as needed.
Commercial Responsibilities:
Increase territory sales and customer network
• Develop and maintain business with new and existing customers to achieve yearly sales objectives.
• Manage customer database, identify and qualify new leads, initiate communication, and ensure follow-up is done in a timely manner.
• Collaborate closely with Marketing to align customer initiatives with emerging trends to identify and report on business opportunities in targeted markets.
• Enhance LMC’s position within each corporate account using consultative and in-depth selling at all levels within the account (R&D/Product Development/Marketing/Purchasing).
• Define customer strategy to identify business opportunities, generate projects and build profitable sales.
• Responsibility includes coordination across LMC sales team and customer sites, pricing negotiations, and pipeline management.
• Create and maintain quality relationships at all levels within the customer’s organization.
• Develop sales in line with the agreed annual sales budget and forecasting to ensure the target revenues achieved.
• Continually monitor and appraise emerging products or trends to identify and report on business opportunities in targeted markets.
• Work closely with customers to be supportive and helpful while retaining confidentially and implementing agreed product strategies. Provide customer technical support and consultant services to increase our overall value to the customer.
• Liaise with customer service internally to keep up to date with developments regarding open orders, pending samples, quotations, shipment follow up, etc.
Promotion of Lucas Meyer Cosmetics Portfolio
• Acquire expertise on our portfolio of active ingredients, functional ingredients, delivery systems, and trends/concepts to effectively promote products.
• Liaise with various departments (Marketing/Formulation/ Customer Service/R&D) to ensure all customer inquiries are addressed properly.
• Provide visit reports with detailed information of items discussed, current projects, and industry developments.
• Ensure account information and call reports are updated daily via Salesforce.
• Maintain a clear updated view of sales opportunity pipeline.
• Coordinate with other RSMs and communicate as needed to ensure the regional team is aware of account activity and any actions required to successfully service the customer.
Job Requirements
Required Skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Proficient computer skills, including Outlook, MS Excel, and Salesforce.
• Enthusiastic, highly motivated, goal-orientated individual with a serious work ethic.
• Multi-tasker, with ability to work well under pressure to handle multiple assignments.
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently, while also being a team player capable of collaborating with team members.
• Execute a daily routine of strategic territory management.
Required Experience
• BA/BS Degree or higher; specialization in Chemistry, Biology, Business, or Marketing a plus.
• 5+ Years of previous industry experience in formulations or selling specialty cosmetic ingredients.
• Established customer network in the Northeast and/or Midwest regions, with P&G account management a plus.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals and expectations.
• Must be authorized to work in the US, without sponsorship, now and/or in the future.
Compensation ($111,300 – $140,900) is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
