Job Description
This position is responsible for the participation and completion of individual R&D project goals and technical input into the design and implementation of those projects for ICL-IP North America R&D
I’m interested! What will I get to do in this position?
• Conduct laboratory experiments in line with the needs of Market Support and New Product Development groups
• Establish a good line of communication with sales, marketing and customers
• Application tests primarily focusing on the evaluation of new and/or commercial flame retardant products in their target application, with a particular focus on plastic compounding, extrusion and injection molding technics
• Perform standardized flammability and physical property tests to determine the relative performance of new and commercial flame retardant products
• Organize and report performance data to Managers, Sales & Marketing and/or Manufacturing personnel
• Develop laboratory test methods that correlate to standardized tests independently or in consultation with Managers
• Write technical reports to summarize experimental work (customer reports, monthly reports)
• Contribute to the development of technical articles, presentations, technical data sheets and other literature related to flame retardant products
• Prepare technical information and work with the Intellectual Property firm on filing patents and preparing responses to the Patent Office actions
• Need to be self-motivated and able to work in cross-functional teams
• Maintain all lab equipment in good working order
• Maintain lab chemical inventory
• Maintain all safety procedures for the Application Lab and participate in Tarrytown site safety and responsible care programs
What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?
• BS/MS Degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering. Related scientific discipline and relevant job experience also considered.
• 3+ years hands on lab experience in a product development/application chemistry laboratory setting
• Self-motivated and able to work in cross functional teams
• Experience in performing standardized tests to meet specific requirements
• Experience performing patent and technical literature searches required
• Experience writing technical reports to summarize experimental work (project reports, monthly reports) required

Salary Range: $56,000 – $84,000
Annual Bonus Target: 5%, subject to plan provisions.
